Kamala Harris leads Donald Trump 44% to 42% in US presidential race: survey

 

As the US presidential election approaches, President Joe Biden has ended his re-election campaign and passed the torch to Vice President Kamala Harris, with the latter two points ahead of Republican Donald Trump, a Reuters/Ipsos poll shows.

The election was held on Monday and Tuesday after Trump accepted the Republican nomination at the Republican National Convention on Thursday and Biden announced on Sunday that he was dropping out of the race and endorsing Harris.

a Harris, who said she was eligible to vote during her campaign, has Trump ahead in national polls 44% to 42%, with a margin of error of 3 percentage points.

Harris and Trump were both approved by 44% in the July 15-16 poll, and 1 percentage point ahead of Trump in the July 1-2 poll.

While national polls provide important signals about America’s support for political candidates, only a few state contests reveal the balance in the U.S. Electoral College that often determines who wins the presidential election.

Latest polls point to a scenario in which Biden leaves the race and is replaced by Harris.
